Theme in The Funnel Badge

Set We've been taught to think of the job we want—acquire those strengths, then match its lifestyle. At Find Your Grind, we believe in the opposite. And it all starts in knowing yourself—what lifestyle you want to live, what strengths you have, and what job matches both.

Why is lifestyle first?

Lifestyle sets the direction an individual wants to go. It encompasses the life you want to live, the person you want to become, and the moments you want to chase and experience.

Why are strengths second?

Strengths will help us achieve the lifestyle we want to reach by focusing on what we are good at and what we will be successful at, then this helps us focus on who we are instead of who we think we should be.

Why is job/career last?

Once we figure out what we want in life and what our strengths, skills, and talents are, we can begin to create the lifestyle we want through our career choices.

What WHO CAN I be?

When you start exploring your dream lifestyle, the real fun begins. Opportunities begin to happen to make your unique passions, skills, and interests become part of your journey.

Theme in The Power of Asking Why badge set

Why is Asking Why so important? Asking Why is part of designing your Lifestyle Journey.

  • It helps you understand yourself and those around you, and it also helps you understand where you are and where you want to go.

  • It helps you explore your curiosity.

  • It helps you discover insights and see possibilities.

  • It helps you create and innovate.

  • It helps you start attacking core problems and begin making a real difference.

Asking Why gives you the power to design the life you want to live.

If we want to change, we ask questions. When we start asking questions, we seek to learn.

Learning helps us find the true reasons behind something. This allows us to gain knowledge before we attempt to offer or create new ideas. We are able to determine if we are on the right track to a root cause or able to push the boundaries and explore more deeply before we make decisions.

New ideas—creation and innovation—can be powerful and productive in designing your lifestyle.

Set expectations for learners to complete the all 4 badges in The Power of Self-reflection badge set and complete the Skills Values badge that follows.

Independent Practice: Unit 1 Starter Kit can be completed in a few sittings, over several days, or even weeks depending on how you pace the curriculum, engage with your students, and integrate the Explore library badges. If independent learning is spaced out over time, check in with your learners to support, engage and inspire along the way.

Themes in The Power of Self-Reflection

The Power of Self-Reflection will guide your students to see the importance and the impact of self-reflection on their lives, as well as help them design a self-reflection practice that fits into their lifestyle.

It is so easy for many of us to get caught up with what we are doing day to day—keep busy moving forward with life and taking a moment to slow down may seem unimportant and unnecessary. You look in the mirror most days and see your appearance, you recognize yourself, but how often do you look inward at your inner self? And how often do you look at the bigger picture: your life? Your students will be challenged and encouraged with these questions, guided through the self-reflection process, and coached on how to do it.

Simply stated, self-reflection is a form of personal exploration that allows you and your students to bring your lives into alignment with what you wish them to be. Self-reflection is active participation in thinking, noticing, and identifying what you want to change, processing how you’re feeling, then using that information to better yourself.

1st star: Summative Assessment

Overview

There are four learning outcomes for students in the Starter Kit unit which are assessed in the summative assessment badge at the end of the unit. Each question is tied to one of the learning outcomes assessing and motivating learners to be the navigator of their own journey as well as providing you a benchmark.

Students’ results will help them gauge where they are on their Find Your Grind journey and contribute to the final unit score.

The Find Your Grind Summative Assessment: At a Glance Students

  • receive their score at the end of the badge.

  • are shown which questions they got correct and wrong.

  • are NOT shown the correct answer.

  • are able to take the assessment again to try for a better score.

All scores are recorded for educators.

All questions are aligned to measure a unit learning outcome.

Engaging Students and Promoting Agency

With built-in flexibility and motivating students to be their own agents of change, they will be given the option to retake any assessment. Students can also see assessment feedback immediately, enabling them to be inquisitive about the topics that they didn’t get quite right, and then providing them with a path to apply their learning immediately.

Transparency and Flexibility for Educators

While promoting growth opportunities for students, our system retains a record of every summative assessment attempt, per student, so that educators can easily use these grades as they see fit.
